Julie Holmes was drawn to the field of interior design from a young age. Her skill and passion for the industry was cultivated early on in her life when she began working for her mother, who was also an interior designer.
Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Holmes eventually attended Aquinas College to earn a degree in the Fine Arts to complement her self-taught upbringing and hands-on experience with interior design. Holmes has had experience in commercial design in the Chicago market, spent time in Cincinnati, and become an award-winning interior designer.
Holmes has partnered with Visbeen Architects as an independent interior designer on a number of residential projects, which led to an official partnership in 2014. Holmes now manages Vision Interiors, which is an independent interior design studio an affiliate of Visbeen Architects.
In this role, Holmes not only meets with clients and walks them through the entire process, but also works in conjunction with the staff at Visbeen Architects to develop the interior design project. She believes in using her expertise to the best of her ability to create spaces with character that align with clients’ personal style and strives to surpass their expectations.
Holmes’ work has been recognized at the national level with awards, such as the American Residential Design Awards and the Best in American Living Awards. She lives in Grand Rapids with her husband Ted Gerrard and daughter Francis, and they have a small farm in Cincinnati. In her spare time, Holmes loves to cook, and redesign her own home.
